Why?
Caffeine is a methylxanthine โ same class as the theobromine in chocolate. Dogs are much more sensitive to caffeine than humans. It causes rapid heart rate, elevated blood pressure, tremors, and seizures.
How much can dogs have?
NONE. No coffee, tea, energy drinks, caffeine pills, or caffeinated foods.
What to watch out for
Symptoms appear within 1โ2 hours โ include restlessness, rapid breathing, tremors, seizures, and heart problems. Can be fatal. Call a vet immediately if your dog consumed caffeine.
