Why?
The risk with mushrooms is that dogs encounter wild mushrooms outdoors. Many wild mushroom varieties are extremely toxic to dogs โ some are fatal. Store-bought plain button mushrooms in small amounts are generally considered safe.

If feeding mushrooms at all โ plain cooked store-bought only. A small amount.
What to watch out for
NEVER let your dog eat wild mushrooms outdoors. Many look identical to safe varieties but are deadly. Death cap and destroying angel mushrooms cause fatal liver failure. If your dog ate a wild mushroom treat it as an emergency.
