Why?
Peanut butter is a great source of protein, healthy fats, vitamins B and E, and niacin. It is beloved by dogs and useful for giving pills or filling puzzle toys.
How much can dogs have?
A teaspoon for small dogs, up to a tablespoon for large dogs. Use as an occasional treat, not daily.
What to watch out for
CRITICAL: Always check the label for xylitol (also listed as birch sugar). Xylitol is deadly to dogs and is in many sugar-free peanut butters. Jif, Skippy, and most regular brands are safe. Also avoid brands with added salt or sugar.
