Why?
Sweet potatoes are an excellent source of dietary fiber, vitamins B6, C, and beta-carotene. They are easily digestible and popular in many commercial dog foods and treats.
How much can dogs have?
A few cubes of plain cooked sweet potato or 1–2 tablespoons mashed is a great treat or food topper.
What to watch out for
Always cook before feeding — raw sweet potato is hard to digest. No seasoning, butter, or brown sugar. Peeled is better for dogs.
